The Filipino American Human Services, Inc. (FAHSI) is sponsoring a Human Services Day in partnership with the Philippine Consulate General on Saturday, March 25, 2017, from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm at the Philippine Center, 556 Fifth Avenue, NYC.
This first of its kind event will provide community members with key information on how to access free services from major human services agencies for women, the youth, the elderly, those needing health services, and the undocumented.
The program will feature two panel discussions composed of leaders from successful NYC human service agencies.
Among the panelists are representatives from the following agencies who will present their programs and services -- WomenRising on Domestic Violence services; Goddard Riverside on College Access programs; University Settlement on Early Childhood and Youth programs; Asian Health Center on Health services for Filipino Americans; APICHA on health, LGBTQ and supplemental support; the New York Immigration Coalition on immigration; and Elmcor on senior services.
A number of Filipino-American human service organizations will also present their programs and services.
The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions after the panel presentations.
Helpful brochures and materials will also be available.
Continental breakfast and lunch will be served.
Consul General Tess de Vega noted that: "The Philippine Consulate General is pleased to collaborate with the FAHSI on this new initiative which aims to raise awareness of different services available to the most underserved sectors of our community - in this way we hope to provide a venue for greater community empowerment and service."
