JERSEY CITY — The highlight of the year-long celebration of 100 Years Anniversary of Our Lady of Victories Parish in Jersey City, N.J. will be a Gala Night on Sept. 30, 2017 at Ramada Plaza Hotel (160 Frontage Road, Newark, N.J.), starting at 6 p.m.

According to Fiorel Salvo, Co-Chair (with Fr. Vic Paloma) of the celebration committee, some 250 invited guests have already confirmed attendance as of Sept. 17.

“We expect more will confirm in the next two weeks,” said Salvo in a meeting of his committee last Sunday.

The commemoration kicked-off with a mass on April 22, 2017 and will end on April 21, 2018 when the Anniversary Journal is expected to get finished for distribution.

Among the expected guests during the Gala Night are JC Mayor Steve Fulop, JC Council President Rolando Lavarro, Jr., County Freeholder Bill O’Dea, New York Consul General Tess de Vega and other Church and Hudson County dignitaries.

An auction with big prizes will be held during the Gala.

Among the prizes will be round-trip tickets to and from the Philippines, courtesy of Philippine Airlines.

Music will be provided by Face2Face Band.

On Oct. 1, 2017, a special mass will be held at the main church at noon, when the new look of OLV will be seen by parishioners, including new chandeliers, new carpets and newly-painted walls.
