The Mayor’s Corner

NINETEEN community groups have been awarded grants as part of Change by Us NYC (, a website that enables New Yorkers to connect with each other and with city government to create projects for improving their neighborhoods and our city.

ON Sept. 16, I released the Mayor’s Management Report for Fiscal Year 2011, which provides an overview of the performance of city agencies.

DEPUTY Mayor for Operations Cas Holloway, Mayor’s Office of Environmental Remediation Director Dr. Daniel Walsh and I announced that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has formally recognized the New York City Brownfield Cleanup Program — the first time the EPA ever has recognized a municipal brownfield program.

I encourage New Yorkers to donate blood as part of the city’s Hurricane Irene response and recovery efforts.

THERE’S no doubt that New York City is weathering this tough economy far better than the rest of the country.
