The Filipino American Holy Black Nazarene Organization of New York organized an Enthronement Ceremony and Service for the image of the Black Nazarene originating from the Philippines on April 14, 2017 (Good Friday) at the Pontifical Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in New York.
 
The service was presided over by Filipino Archbishop Bernardito Auza (Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations) with co-celebrants Rev. Fr. Marian Wierzchowski, SAC; Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Okpalauwaekwe; and Msgr. Oscar Aquino.
 
With the enthronement, the image of the Black Nazarene now has a permanent home in New York.

The image of the Nazareno came from the Philippines.

The Pontifical Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is under the authority of the Archdiocese of New York and enshrines aside from the image of the Black Nazarene, a vested image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel which is widely venerated by Marian devotees.

The Philippine Consulate General in New York was represented by Consul General Theresa Dizon-de Vega who joined over 150 Filipino community members in witnesses the special ceremony.  
 
Other participating associations in the event include: Friends of 2000 Hail Mary Devotion Outreach Program for the Needy and Underserved, Our Lady of Mount Carmel NYC, St. John’s Third Friday Devotees, St. John’s God the Father Third Sunday Devotional Group, Anthony Dan Regina Foundation, St. John the Evangelist Leonia, NJ Prayer Group, St. Padre Pio Pilgrims, NYC-PA Group, St. Brigid Prayer Group, Confraternity of the Passion, 2017 Hermana Mayor Esmeralda Jimenez, American Catholic Children and Youth USA (ACCY USA), and the Our Lady of Guadalupe Apostolate Music Ministry of New Jersey.
