Hooray! Zaldy B. Patron — the new deputy consul general of the Philippine Consulate General in New York.

Heartiest congrats and cheers to Consul Zaldy B. Patron who is the new DCG — deputy consul general — of the Philippine Consulate General in New York (PCGNY), succeeding Ambassador Tess Dizon-de Vega.

The affable and capable Consul Patron, who concurrently heads the economic, political and visa sections of PCGNY, was named DCG by Consul General Mario Lopez de Leon, Jr. effective Oct. 1.

DCG Patron joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1996 and currently holds the rank of career minister.

Prior to his assignment at the PCGNY in 2008, he served as director of the Office of Asean Affairs in Manila.

He was also assigned as second secretary and consul at the Philippine Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil from 2002 to 2005, and as third secretary and vice consul at the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia from 1999 to 2002.

From 1996 to 1999, he held various positions in the DFA’s Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs, Office of Asia and Pacific Affairs, Office of Protocol, and Office of Policy Planning and Coordination.

DCG Patron is an economics graduate of U.P. Los Baños and earned his master in business administration degree from the Ateneo de Manila University Graduate School of Business.
