Program awards six $17,000 scholarships to Asian students from New York tri-state area; local McDonald’s restaurants to host scholarship information sessions

ISELIN, N.J. — Ronald McDonald House Charities of the New York Tri-State Area (RMHC-NYTSA) is proud to announce that the 2013 RMHC/ASIA (Asian Students Increasing Achievement) Scholarship Program is now accepting applications online at

Seeking to invest in exemplary Asian-American students who may face challenges paying for a college education, the RMHC/ASIA Scholarship Program is a multi-year scholarship that awards six students up to $17,000 for their undergraduate studies.

Now in its 13th year, the RMHC/ASIA Scholarship Program is the largest scholarship offered to Asian-American students in the New York tri-state area and has awarded over $1.2 million to date.

The application deadline for the 2013 RMHC/ASIA Scholarship Program is Dec. 20, 2012.

Each applicant must be currently enrolled high school seniors who have at least one parent of Asian/Pacific-Islander heritage and who are eligible to enroll and attend an institution of higher education or vocational/technical school with a complete course of study in the year immediately following graduation.

Applicant must be a legal U.S. resident, be less than 21 years of age, have a minimum 2.7 GPA, and reside within the New York tri-state area.

“During these difficult economic times, Ronald McDonald House Charities takes great pride in identifying students who are not only extraordinary scholars and role models but are also from families who are in financial need. This year, we’ve expanded our community outreach efforts to ensure we are reaching the Asian-American students who need our help the most.”
