Phil-Am Food of Jersey City, N.J. will be featured Monday (Nov. 4) in the season premiere of Andrew Zimmern’s “Bizarre Foods America” at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) on the Travel Channel.

Zimmern (pictured left) personally visited Phil-Am Food’s Newark Avenue store a few months ago and met with its owner Erwin Santos (flanked by his daughter and wife), as the award-winning chef and culinary explorer discovers “amazing and unusual cuisine” in the backyard of cities across North America.

Zimmern will showcase Phil-Am Food’s delightful sisig — a dish of pig head that is boiled, broiled, chopped, fried and served on a sizzling platter; and, of course, the ever intriguing balut — fertilized duck eggs.

The show will also feature exotic delicacies from other parts of New Jersey.
