ISELIN, N.J. — McDonald’s New York tri-state is proud to present the first annual McDonald’s B-Boy Royale, New York City’s largest breakdance competition of the year.

The event will feature some of today’s leading breakers and dance crews battling it out for cash prizes.

The competition will be held on Aug. 16 at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.

Tickets can be purchased at the NYU Skirball Center box office or at, with proceeds benefitting Ronald McDonald House Charities® New York Tri-State Area.

The McDonald’s B-Boy Royale is on a mission to establish the premier New York City-based breakdance competition that will bring together b-boys and b-girls of every age, gender, color and stripe from across the United States...and beyond.

From now until the competition, McDonald’s will be conducting special online contests and promotions across YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

McDonald’s B-Boy Royale Dance Crew Contest

McDonald’s is offering local dance crews from the New York tri-state area a chance to be featured at the McDonald’s B-Boy Royale.  

To enter, applicants should follow these instructions:

1) Post a video of your dance crew’s performance on YouTube with the title “McDonald’s B-Boy Royale Dance Crew Entry” and the tags “McDonald’s,” “B-Boy” and “Royale.”

2) Tweet @McDBBoyRoyale the link to the video. After @McDBBoyRoyale retweets your video, it will be regarded as an official entry.

A panel of judges will select one dance crew from the official entries on July 7, 2014.

The winners will earn an exclusive performance slot at the McDonald’s B-Boy Royale.


Must be 16 or older and residing in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut.

“I’m honored to participate in such a historic event in the b-boy world,” stated McDonald’s B-Boy Royale lead judge Jason Ng a.k.a. “B-Boy Chem,” an award-winning breaker who has won numerous international competitions, including Sweden’s Star Jam and Montreal’s Born to Serve.

“This competition will help elevate breaking to a whole new level. McDonald’s is thrilled to create a breakdance competition in the city where this art form was born,” stated Tony Scari, president of the New York Tri-State Area Owners and Operators’ Association.

“The McDonald’s B-Boy Royale will offer a fantastic showcase of world-class talent and emerging stars.”
