JERSEY CITY — Our Lady of Victories (OLV) Catholic Church (pictured above) along 2217 Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City, N.J. will celebrate the 100th year since its opening to parishioners in 1917 on Sept. 30, 2017.

This was announced by Fr. Victor Paloma, current pastor of OLV, in a meeting of passionate parishioners who are organized into a committee that oversees preparations for the forthcoming big and historic celebration.

In his announcement, Fr. Paloma said in part, “The historic celebration is not just a day, a month, or even a year. This celebration is a renewal of our faith and love of Christ and even among us. This is a beginning of another 100 years of our faithful.”

Fiorello Salvo, a longtime OLV parishioner, was tapped by Fr. Paloma to chair the Anniversary Organizing Committee.

As of this writing, the Committee has met three times under the guidance and direction of Fr. Paloma and Salvo.

The end-goal of the anniversary observance is to raise funds for the repairs and renovation of OLV church and to invite new and existing parishioners to get involved deeper in parish activities.
