The Philippines’ New York Consul General Ma. Theresa Dizon-de Vega, less than 24 hours after her return from Manila where she attended meetings at the Department of Foreign Affairs, presided over a gathering with the Filipino community at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Consulate on Fifth Avenue, where she introduced some of the participants in tomorrow’s (June 4) 27th Annual Independence Day Parade in New York.

Among those introduced were international beauty pageant winners Pia Wurtzbach, Megan Young and Kylie Verzosa.

Musical artists present were Martin Nievera, Shane Ericks, Mikey Bustos and Cesar Montano.

Also present were this year’s parade Grand Marshals Drs. Rod and Elma Castillo.

Con Gen de Vega reiterated her invitation for Filipinos and even non-Filipinos in the New York Metropolitan area to come and witness the observance of the 119th Philippine Independence in Midtown Manhattan, the largest such celebration outside of the Philippines, organized yearly by the Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI).
