Lauren Levine lights the 13th candle of her Bat Mitzvah cake at Oronoque Country Club.

Lauren Rose Levine, daughter of Murray Levine and Lana Magno Levine of Fairfield, Connecticut, recently celebrated her Bat Mitzvah (on her 13th birthday) at the Park Avenue Temple of Congregation B'nai Israel in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Officiated by Rabbi James Prosnit, several of Lauren's family members, classmates and camp friends witnessed with joy and pride the solemn coming-of-age ceremony, which basically makes a Bat Mitzvah (or Bar Mitzvah for boys) morally and ethically responsible for her decision and actions, including her adherence to Jewish ritual law, traditions and ethics.

The ceremony — highlighted by Lauren's reading of the Torah (she studied Hebrew for six years) — was followed by a lavish reception at the elegant Oronoque Country Club in Stratford, Connecticut.

Some 120 guests feasted on succulent roast beef, Italian dishes and tons of drinks, heavenly chocolates and other delicacies, as they danced the rest of the afternoon and enjoyed parlor games.

Lauren is a student at Fairfield Woods Middle School and is an active member of Fairfield United Soccer Association (FUSA).

She's also into basketball, tae kwon do and cheerleading.

She dreams of entering Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, Massachusetts someday and become a successful electrical engineer.
