The Philippine Consulate General in New York and the Philippine Department of Tourism in New York (PDOT-NY), with the support of Philippine Airlines (PAL), encouraged the public to join the 11th Ambassadors’ Tour during the official launch of the 2017 Tour edition at the Philippine Center in New York on April 4, 2017.
In her remarks, Consul General Theresa Dizon-de Vega said that the Philippines is experiencing a golden age of tourism with a surge in tourism arrivals of 631,000 in January 2017 — the highest volume recorded in a single month.
She added that the Philippines’ tourism prospects are buoyed by glowing reviews from international media and savvy travelers on social media, including recognition of the country’s islands as among the world’s best.
PDOT Tourism Representative Azucena Pallugna gave a presentation on the Ambassadors’ Tour itinerary which runs from July 11-16, 2017 in Manila and Davao, and post-Tour packages for those who wish to spend extra time in the Philippines.

Charisse Arboleda of Philippine Airlines invited community members to consider taking PAL in travelling to the Philippines as it offers competitive airfare rates, flies four times a week, and provides free shuttle transportation from key points in Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia to JFK Airport
During the program, several community members who had joined previous Ambassadors’ Tours gave testimonials of their experiences.
Carol Tanjutco, a financial adviser, artist and community advocate based in New York City, along with Edward Santos and Steven Raga, delegates to the Filipino-American Young Leaders Program (FYLPRO), were on hand to encourage people to sign up for the tour.
The consul general with the participation of Arboleda and Pallugna answered additional questions about the tour towards the end of the program.
The launch was attended by over 50 tour and travel operators and members of the Filipino community.
