Pope Francis (above) has confirmed his visit to the Philippines in January 2015, although the Vatican has yet to announce the exact date.
The confirmation was made by the 77-year-old Pontiff himself to Vatican reporters while discussing his trip to South Korea this August for the sixth Asian Youth Day.
The Pope said in January, he will be in “Sri Lanka and in the Philippines and in the zone that was hit by the tsunami.”
The first non-European Pope earlier has expressed his intention of visiting the Philippines to personally condole with thousands of survivors of the Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
He also mentioned the Philippines during his first Christmas as the leader of the Roman Catholic Church.
